The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today unveiled Heads Up Brain Injury in your
Practice, a tool kit for physicians. The tool kit is designed to raise physicians' awareness about
the public health problem of mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) and to improve treatment for
patients with MTBI.

2. Bone Marrow Generates New Neurons in Human Brains
A new study strongly suggests that some cells from bone marrow can enter the human brain and
generate new neurons and other types of brain cells.

Studies
The two most comprehensive, scientific studies to date on roller coasters, g-forces, reports of
alleged brain injury, and overall theme park safety were unveiled today, confirming that rides are
based on biomedical and biomechanical science and are extraordinarily safe and present no health
risk to the public.

NEW - CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE
Brain Injury and Rehabilitation: An Overview
This course reviews various types of traumatic brain injury and their common physical, cognitive and
behavioral consequences. The participant receives current epidemiological information about head
injury, common causes of traumatic brain injury, it's costs and various funding sources. The course
outlines the continuum of care from the initial, emergency services to home and work re-entry.
Factors that contribute to the successful rehabilitation and recovery of a person from traumatic
brain injury are discussed. Lastly, the most common professional services associated with traumatic
brain injury survival and rehabilitation are reviewed.
This course is certified for 2.0 (02.00-05A-07-02-73) CCM (Certified Case Manager),
(02.00-02D-07-02-70) CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) and (02.00-02G-07-02-71) CDMS
(Certified Disablity Management Specialist) clock hours.
